Rosemary has a powerful flavour and it's packed with Vitamins A and C, iron, manganese and calcium. (Dried rosemary is packed with potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc) Vitamin A is crucial for growth and development and important to keep the immune system and cells healthy. Vitamin C helps to heal wounds, keep the immune system healthy, and is needed for normal growth and development and for helping the body to absorb iron (rather perfect as rosemary is packed with iron too!). Iron is essential for transporting oxygen around the body and manganese is needed to keep bones growing and energy levels up. Calcium is also needed for healthy bones and teeth and helps the body with normal muscle contraction (including heartbeat) and blood clotting.
When to give to your baby
Rosemary makes a good choice for one of your baby’s first herbs. We recommend to start introducing herbs and spices from around 7 months once first tastes have been accepted, however every baby is different so follow your instinct or consult your health visitor if you're not sure. Herbs can liven up baby food and using them is a wonderful way to expand your baby’s taste buds by offering interesting flavours from early on in their journey.
