Green & Puy lentils


Lentils are a fantastic source of protein and selenium. Protein provides energy and is essential for growth, repair and maintenance of the tissues in the body. Selenium helps the immune and reproductive systems work normally and also protects the body against oxidative damage. They’re a real powerhouse as they’re also a good source of fibre, Vitamin B6, iron, phosphorous, copper, folate and manganese.


When to give to your baby 

Lentils are a fantastic ingredient to introduce to your baby early on in the journey as they are creamy, tasty and so very healthy. We recommend to first introduce them from around 6 months once first tastes have been accepted, however every baby is different so follow your instinct or consult your health visitor if you are not sure. If you find lentils gives your little one gas, don’t be put off. Try leaving it for a few weeks before introducing it again as it can take a little while for your little ones digestive system to manage with digesting, and like we said, every baby is different! It's worth persisting with as these little legumes, as they will offer your growing baby a lot of important nutrients and it’s a good idea to try and encourage as varied a diet as possible from early on in the journey.
