Not just a tasty treat, bananas are a good source of potassium, manganese, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C. Potassium is needed to maintain a good balance in body fluids and make sure all the nerves and muscles stay healthy. Manganese is needed to keep bones growing and energy levels up. Vitamin B6 helps to release energy from food, it helps make red blood cells and makes sure the nervous system is working as it should be. Vitamin C is needed for healing wounds, keeping the immune system healthy, for normal growth and development and for helping the body to absorb iron.

When to give to your baby

Bananas make a good choice for one of baby’s first fruits. We recommend to start weaning at around 6 months, however, every baby is different so follow your instinct or consult your health visitor if you are not sure.
